Stampin B Gatefold with Flowers

Lois, aka Clownmom, challenged the Stampin B's to make a gatefold card with flowers on it! I love love love flowers so this was a delightful and fun card to make! I am showing 2 shots of my card, one with the belly band on it since that was the only way I could figure out how to keep it closed, and the second of it opened! I used Making Memories *Chillin* paper, and the SU set Easy Elegance for the long stemmed flowers on the inside. The sentiment is from a very old SU set, I cannot remember its name.... I added some stickles to my flowers and some ribbon, and VOILA! Thanks Lois for a great challenge and thank YOU for looking!!!

Stampin B Pumpkin Challenge

Hi everyone! It is harvest time in StamPford and I challenged the Stampin B's to use a pumpkin on their card. Nothing like keeping it simple, huh??!! I created my pumpkin using 9 oval punched pieces from Making Memories *just Chillin* dp, and the SU set Say It with Scripture. I also used the last of the buttons I made over at SCS for the technique lovers challenge called *faux Buttons*! It is really 5 layers of the smallest nesties heart glue together, than punched with my cropodile, the crystal lacquer added for sheen. Ah the tricks we learn from each other! And that sweet little pumpkin came from my good friend Martha's garden, she is quite the farmer! Well as much as I HATE to say good-bye to summer, I wish you all a happy and healthy fall season. Masculine Sympathy Card

Jojot challenged us to make a masculine sympathy card. Hmm, a double dog dare if you ask me, sympathy cards are difficult and a masculine one at that? Well I gave it some thought and figured I would make what I call a four square card. I used DP by SEI, it is actually Christmas paper but I thought the browns and pine cones work nicely for the challenge. I stamped branches from Best Blossoms in chocolate and then sponged with old olive. My sentiment is from the dollar stamps at M's, it had a flower on it which I did not use. Black ribbon as the austere embellishment and done! Thanks Joanne for a great challenge and thank YOU for looking!!!

Punchy Saturday

I had fun making punch art today for the Splitcoast challenge. Our inspiration was a site with darling baby shoes! Mr. Owl is simply a topnote die folded in half, with nestability eyes abd a triangle beak! Easy peasy, add the ggogles and some ribbon and VOILA! The frog is made with oval and round nestabilities of varying sizes, and can you guess what I made his toes with? A flower punch! This was a TOTAL CASE of a card by Stampingeorge over at SCS so if anuone is looki g and wnats to case, please give HER credit! Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!!!

Sketch Challenge 233 And another tote

I did 2 very different cards for the sketch challenge today. The blue one I made this morning, and the bright one this afternoon. I love playing around with the same sketch and mixing it up, there is no end to the differnt looks we can achieve... I also wanted you to see another tote I made that is winging its way down to Florida as we speak! Along with some bubble gum for a very smart 9 year old who got ALL A'S for the school year! WOWZERS! I am being taken out to dinner by my Stepmom for my BD, my dear Brother Matt will be there too! Gotta go get *pretty*! Till my next post, Nancyruth

Casing Sumtoy

Yesterday's challenge over at SCS was to case a card from the featured stamoer sumtoy. I chose this card of Roseanne's because I adore flowers, especially roses!

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1282101?cat=500&ppuser=90220

I made two cards for the case. The first one features an iron gate that I cased from AngellaDCrockett, using both the Martha Stewart Picket fence Punch AND the EK Suceess Punch Fluer de Lis. The second card I kept lighter, and that is my favorite of the two. I used stickles on both cards and love the sparkle that they have! Thanks for looking!!!

Some More TopNote Purses

As you get to know me, or if you already do, you will know I love to create something over and over in many ways, to see just how many looks I can get. Of course in any creative endeavor the sky is the limit, so I have to tell myself to stop! This was true with my topnote purses and I had so much fun creating different looks with this technique which I found over at SCS. The link to Butternutsage's tutorial will help you to create your own purses!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QwGdLYiZoU

Anyway, I am kinda thrilled with how these came out and hope you enjoy them too!
The blue faux crocodile bag was made by running ballet blue cardstock through my cuttelbug, stippled with Itty Bitty Backgrounds in brilliant blue, then clear embossed. I do forget how vibrant the clear EP makes things... I had in mind a lighter blue when I started! So I was a little startled by the color. LOL!!I had so much fun decorating this, like so many of my projects it took on a life of its own! The clutch bag on the right is made using one topnot cut in half, the paper I used is Que sera sera by K and Company, as well as some scraps from the blue purse! The white one is made with white cardstock (doh) run through the swiss dots folder, and clear embossed to give a patent leather look.

Till my next post, Nancyruth

Saturday Morning

Good Saturday Morning to all. I wake up with a knot in my stomach as this is the last day of working at the lighting store, it is closing tomorrow. I am faced with a job search, finding health benefits, and applying for unemplyment until I get a new job. I know I am not alone and am very fortunate not to be living hand to mouth like so many others. But I am still a little scared, and must keep my chin up and do the footwork and hope that I can find employment during this bad economic time. There, I said it, now I feel a bit better.

I am posting the valentines I made for the Limited Supply challenge at SCS, which was to make a flat and EASILY reproducable valentine. I had so much fun making these using K and Co. Sweet Talk paper and my top note die. The one with the angel is for the sketch challenge. Can you guess that I love the color pink? Thanks for looking and stop by again soon!

Another sketch!

Well I am just loving this sketch that Roxi gave us yesterday, ans I think

this card is SOOOOOOO sweet it makes my teeth hurt! I used the set Calling All Angels, from H and M stamps, and love the tiny scrabble letters from Jolee's. Anyway since I was evacuated out of Michael's yesterday(yes, there was some kind of electrical fire I think) I am going to skate down my driveway to the garage and try again to find the new Martha Stewart Valentine's day punches. Wish me luck!!!

World on a string

*I've got the world on a string

Sitting on a rainbow

Got the string around my

What a world what a lifeOoh I am in love
I've got this song that I sing

I can make the rain go

Anytime I move my finger

Lucky me can't you seeI am in love
Life is a beautiful thing

As long as I've got a hold of that string

I'd be a silly so-and-so

If I should ever let go
I got the world on a string

Sitting on a rainbow

Got the string around my finger

Lucky me can't you seeI am in love*

No I am not in love but I have my ipod on and keep listening to this song over and over agin, sung by the wonderful Celine Dionne, what a set of pipes on her!

Anyway I hope you like this card I made for the sketch challenge over at SCS, I LOVE pink and I LOVE flowers, and spring is one day closer than it was yesterday, so all is well in my little world!!
I am going to skate down my driveway and get in my car and do a few errands, and of course I adore the comments that you leave here at my blog. Hugs, nancyruth

Color Challenge

This is for a couple of newlyweds I know. I used the H and M Stamp set called *Our Love*, and I love the images and sentiments in the set. I colored with prismacolor markers. I added half pearls from Michaels to the centers, to keep with the theme of elegance. The corners are punched with the EK Sucess corner punch called TRumpet Floer. I embellished with primas thaT I colored with my markers too. I love the color challenge that Emily gave us of black, vanilla and sahara sand, and though I did not have the EXACT colors I came darned close. Thanks for looking and sorry I have not been commenting much or joining in the naughtiness as I have been working almost 24/7 liquidating the store in which I work. YIKES, I will be UNEMPLOYED soon and then have lots of time to clean my stamp room and gallery gaze. Hugs, NR!

december blog hop, nancyruth, Generations of Stitches

Hi everyone! I have been very busy at work, helping my cousin close his business. I have worked there for 4 and a half years and it is a very busy and very sad time. I know we will all find new opportunites and new ways to make our livings. I never knew there were so many laws and rules concerning closing a store! So I have been working 6 days a week preparing for the liquidation sale. Yikes, I guess you could say we will go out with a bang. Anyway, to the stamping part of my post, enough personal stuff.....

I made this bag out of a coffee bean bag that Mothermark sent me some time ago. I cut off the top where the wires are and added eyelets and yellow gingham ribbon for the handles. The panels are cut from fabriano watercolor paper and stamped with the giraffes from *generations of stitches*, one of my favorites of H and M's wonderful stamp sets. I used a combo of my watercolor crayons and my prismacolor markers to color the giraffes, and the background is a watercolor wash. I made the medallion out of two nestied layers and added yellow satin ribbon fringe to mimic the giraffes' manes. The finish touch is the yellow daisies from the Wrights factory outlet. if you are ever in Sturbridge Massachusetts you MUST go there, the have tons of ribbons and trims and anything fiber that you can imagine! Anyway, I hope you like my *wrap it up* submission for our blog hop, and thanks so much for stopping by!
now hop on over to the other DT menmbers and look at their brilliant creations! Hugs to you!

About Me

My photo
Hi everyone! My Name is Nancy Levine, known as NANCYRUTH on SCS. I have began stamping 20 years ago, though I put everything in the attic for about 10 of those during the hectic years of my single motherhood. I went to a stamping up party about 5 years ago and the stamping flame was rekindled and i have stamped almost every day since then. I work full time in a lighting store and enjoy my career in sales which allows me to fund my crafting habits. I am also a beader and spend my free time stamping, swimming and making jewelry! I look forward to charting my creative journey through my new blog. Fast forward.... After 13 months of unemployment due to the economic downturn I completed my Therapeutic Recreation certification and now work in a skilled nursing facility creating and implementing recreational programs for the residents. I also had the priviledge of working at Beadz Boutique in Darien Ct. where I fine tuned many of my beading skills!
