Color Challenge

This is for a couple of newlyweds I know. I used the H and M Stamp set called *Our Love*, and I love the images and sentiments in the set. I colored with prismacolor markers. I added half pearls from Michaels to the centers, to keep with the theme of elegance. The corners are punched with the EK Sucess corner punch called TRumpet Floer. I embellished with primas thaT I colored with my markers too. I love the color challenge that Emily gave us of black, vanilla and sahara sand, and though I did not have the EXACT colors I came darned close. Thanks for looking and sorry I have not been commenting much or joining in the naughtiness as I have been working almost 24/7 liquidating the store in which I work. YIKES, I will be UNEMPLOYED soon and then have lots of time to clean my stamp room and gallery gaze. Hugs, NR!

december blog hop, nancyruth, Generations of Stitches

Hi everyone! I have been very busy at work, helping my cousin close his business. I have worked there for 4 and a half years and it is a very busy and very sad time. I know we will all find new opportunites and new ways to make our livings. I never knew there were so many laws and rules concerning closing a store! So I have been working 6 days a week preparing for the liquidation sale. Yikes, I guess you could say we will go out with a bang. Anyway, to the stamping part of my post, enough personal stuff.....

I made this bag out of a coffee bean bag that Mothermark sent me some time ago. I cut off the top where the wires are and added eyelets and yellow gingham ribbon for the handles. The panels are cut from fabriano watercolor paper and stamped with the giraffes from *generations of stitches*, one of my favorites of H and M's wonderful stamp sets. I used a combo of my watercolor crayons and my prismacolor markers to color the giraffes, and the background is a watercolor wash. I made the medallion out of two nestied layers and added yellow satin ribbon fringe to mimic the giraffes' manes. The finish touch is the yellow daisies from the Wrights factory outlet. if you are ever in Sturbridge Massachusetts you MUST go there, the have tons of ribbons and trims and anything fiber that you can imagine! Anyway, I hope you like my *wrap it up* submission for our blog hop, and thanks so much for stopping by!
now hop on over to the other DT menmbers and look at their brilliant creations! Hugs to you!

Triangle Medallion Cards for Technique Lover's challenge

Well Here are 2 cards for the TLC over at scs on Monday. I wracked my brains trying to figure out the way to link the little triangles together abnd ended up using Terrifically Tacky Tape to hold the medallions together, but who can really tell. I used some of my new designer papers for the cards. The musical blue card has paper from My Mind's Eye, na d the gree is called FALALA, by Making Memories! So many toys, so little time. Thanks for stopping by!

Fluffles Hoilday and Color Challenge

Something quirky is happening to my computer at work, it does not allow me to get to SCS! I can get onto any other site in the cyber world but NOT SCS! Is my computer at work trying to tell me something? LOL!
Anyway I made this card for the color challenge of Kraft Red and Black! Isn't that tangled kitty the cutest! I colored the image with my prisma color markers and added gold paint pen around the edge of the circle, as well as Faith Dots! Thanks so much for looking!

Rose garden By Thomas Kincade

I am very proud of this card, I so often rush at my work and get *so-so* results. This one I took my time with and I feel rewarded by not rushing. I colored the beautiful image with prismacolor pencils and baby oil, and went for the boldest brightest colors I could get. I refered to the label on the stamp to help me with my colors, and realized that being timid was not the way to go. I really pressed on those pencils! I then put 4 layers of UTEE on it, then popped it in the freezer and cracked it. I must say the thick glaze really deepens the colors and I was thrilled with the results. I am so grateful to SCS and all my stamping friends who have taught me so very much about this craft! Especially Dawn L who always encourages me and reassured me my card would not smell like a baby's bottom or be greasy by using the baby oil. Thanks for looking!

  1. Well here are some pictures from Casey and Cesca's wedding in Denver. They afre me and my BFF Kimberly, mother of the groom. We could not have had more fun! And the foot photo is of my, Kim's and Mary's(kim's stunning daughter) dressed up feet! I was trying to be artistic but not sure it worked... Oh it seems like ages ago that we were in Denver. And despite what Cindy(Mothermark) may have rumored over at SCS I DID NOT misbehave and end up in jail! Ah the meories of such a beautfiul weekend will live with me always!

Comfy Valentine Sketch

this card is for the November 1 sketch challenge. I used the darling set *Comfy Valentine* which can be purchased here. http://www.handmstamps.com/index.php The pajamas are paper pieced and there are 14 layers on this card! WOW!

Catch up with new cards... And BLOG CANDY! (If I get at least 12 comments on this post)

I have been sick with bronchitis, I did got to work yesterday but came home early, and stayed home today as well. I am so grateful for my good health and seem to taKE it for granted till times such as now. Boy it will be good to be able to take a DEEEEP breath without coughing, to breathe through my nose, and to taste food again. (not that I have not been eating mind you, I just have not really been able to TASTE it....) So it is these down times that remind me to continue to take care of myself and to be so grateful for good health....
Now, onto the FUN stuff! I have lots of cards that have not yet been posted, and will leave a description in each ones caption. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, I am always here at the computer.
I am going to have a little give away here, in order to win you MUst leave one comment on this post telling me what YOU are grateful for. The blog candy will be some choice goodies from my most ample and overabundant statshes!! I will NOT give away the candy unless there are 12 or more comments, so spread the word! I guess this is a little test to see if I have any reader, I know I have those followers who signed on and I thank you for following my blog. I will pick a winner on Saturday if I reach the 12 posts, if not thanks to those of you who commented!

1. My best friend Kimberly lives in Maine and we have known each other since seventh grade! We have only seen eACH other in person at most 15 times over the past 35 years, yet our friendship is such a remarkable bond! we met last wekend in denver to celebrate her son Casey's wedding to Francesca, and had a terrific time exploring the city!

2. I LOVE SWIMMING!!! If I do not get enough swimming in I have dreams about the ocean....

3. I am not a very religious person. I am Jewish but do not belong to a temple at this time in my life. Though not religious, I do believe I am very spiritual.

4. I love shopping, and my friends and sister and Mom are thrilled when they get to go shopping with me because I am such a good scout in a store. meaning i will run back and forth to the dressing room with whatever you need, or if it is home furnishings I have a good eye for what might look nice in your home....

5. I am a Gemini and do have 2 personalities. luckily my *evil* twin Naomi does not come out to play much!! *wink, wink*

6. My garden has been sorely neglected over the years and this fall thesze huge weeds have sprung up with hundreds of white flowers on each one.... I think I am in real botanical trouble on this one.
My Mom's side of the family are Conncecticut farmers, I think that gene missed me....

7. I love stamping, crafting, making jewelry, flower arranging. yes I am the craftiest one in my circle of friends. BUT I have NEVER balanced my checkbook! Are you still my friend? BWAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!

Our favorite 4 legged customer, accompanied by her owners Helene and
Andy, stopped by the store today! Her name is Daisy and she posed for

Snowman in August

This is for Jeanne's challenge to make a card using a snowman in some fashion. I had to root around the basement to find these stamps, along with a very nice red shirt I forgot I had. So Double thanks go to Jeanne for helping me find my stamps AND my shirt!! I used my nestabilities and my stickles and watercolored with the retired in colors, a fun card to make. I hope you all stay cool today! Hugs, Nancyruth

Monday morning musings

Having fun with this discontinued set I picked up in the BST forum. That is how we baby boomers dressed in the late fities/early sixties. Yep, socks were white, sneakers usually red or blue, and we got to go outside to play! It was a fine time to be a child.... thanks for looking!!

Cheers To You

Our challenge today was to go to our spice rack and use something spicy in our card. Well I went right onto my deck and picked fresh herbs to use! I love having fresh herbs and they add so much flavor to my simple cooking. I seemed to be hooked on the set called Garden Silhouettes, especially the stamp I used on this card. When we were little my sister and i would' go out and pick wildflowers for our Mom. Queen Anne's lace and daisies were abundant and favorites of ours. It is sad to think there are so few places for wildflowers to grow now...... Anyway I thought the tiny dill flowers looked much like the stamp I used in my card. What do YOU think??

Wedding cake Inspiraton

Oh what a wonderful challenge stef, thanks so much! I chose the blue cake shown here as my inspiration http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...d=121583047 0I used the cricut celebrations cartridge to cut out 3 cakes in 3 different sizes to build this twinkling creation. I watercolored them with twinkling H20's and then embellished with liquid pearls, stickles, and branches that were cut from garden silhouettes. Perfect challenge for me stef as i was asked to make a wedding card for my friend cappi! I hope she loves it, I must say i am pleased with the outcome. I used the Martha Stewart lace paper from my stash for the background, and the sentiment from *Lifetime of happiness*. Thanks for looking

Sisters swimming and shopping

My sister Debby came for a visit from Louisville and we had the pleasure of spending wednesday together. After we spent several hours at the beach, walking, swimming and picnicing, we went shopping for the summer clearance sales! That is a FAVORITE summer activity, and this card is in the spirit of all the pretty dresses we saw. To my delight eyelet is very *in* in the fashion world, so I created this dress from paint chip slices and Martha stewart eyelet paper. The belt buckle is hodgepodge colored with a blue sharpie, Thanks faith, and the background is cuttled and then colored with almost amethyst. I used my nesties for the little sentiment panel. Thanks Jeanne for such a great challenge!

Happy Fourth of July!!

I am off to spend the afternoon with my dear Mom. I made a barley salad to take, if anyone wants the recipe let me know, it is quite delicious as well as healthy. I wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July!!

About Me

My photo
Hi everyone! My Name is Nancy Levine, known as NANCYRUTH on SCS. I have began stamping 20 years ago, though I put everything in the attic for about 10 of those during the hectic years of my single motherhood. I went to a stamping up party about 5 years ago and the stamping flame was rekindled and i have stamped almost every day since then. I work full time in a lighting store and enjoy my career in sales which allows me to fund my crafting habits. I am also a beader and spend my free time stamping, swimming and making jewelry! I look forward to charting my creative journey through my new blog. Fast forward.... After 13 months of unemployment due to the economic downturn I completed my Therapeutic Recreation certification and now work in a skilled nursing facility creating and implementing recreational programs for the residents. I also had the priviledge of working at Beadz Boutique in Darien Ct. where I fine tuned many of my beading skills!
